The Memorabilia Room was included in a 1985 addition to the Legion building. Several WWII veterans who were Branch members donated their artifacts, photos and documents and set up the displays. Donations relevant to Harriston and Minto veterans are accepted for addition to the collection.
The Memorabilia Room at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 296 is a place of remembrance, reflection, and learning. This space preserves and displays a collection of uniforms, service medals, photos, memoirs, a variety of artifacts and copies of the attestation papers of Harriston and Minto people who served in WWI. The current memorabilia curator for Branch 296 is comrade Judy Tuck.
The exhibits highlight local connections to Canada’s military history, offering visitors an opportunity to learn more about the men and women who served, both overseas and at home. Each item tells a story of duty, resilience, and commitment, helping to keep the memories of service alive for current and future generations.
The room is open to visitors by appointment during the hours the Legion is open. Please contact the Legion for more information.
